4 Players Who Could Benefit From Rohr's Dismissal

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Sunday 13, December 2021 relieved Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr off his job, despite qualifying the team for World Cup playoff slated for March 2022.

With Rohr now sacked as Super Eagles coach, quite a number of Nigeria players will be hoping for a better opportunity with the team, having been frozen out of the Eagles fold for a longtime.

With Augustine Eguavoen, former Eagles captain and two time manager back in the dugout in an interim capacity, while the NFF are still in talks with Rohr’s successor it won’t be bad if Nigerian fans see players who have not been given enough chance get invited to the team.

Awoniyi consistency in front of goal has been quite evident in recent time but the Union Berlin striker has not been lucky enough to get an invite from the sacked German.

The Union Berlin forward is undoubtedly one of the best goal-scorer in Europe’s top-flight leagues presently having scored nine goals this season for the German side.

However, despite his impressive form for Berlin Rohr continuously ignored him and restricted him to just one appearance for the Super Eagles, when he came off the bench against Central African Republic in October.

With Augustine Eguavoen now back in the dugout for Super Eagles, the Union Berlin goal poacher may be fortunate enough to earn a rear invite as we edge closer to the African Cup of Nations slated for January in Cameroon.

For a player who has turn himself to an important figure in the Watford’s team, it sound bizarre that such player can’t get consistent invite to come represent his national team.

The former Club Brugge forward has scored seven goals and assisted five in the Premier League this season, a commendable form which makes him one of the most in-form Africans plying his trade in Europe.

Despite his mouthwatering contributions in front of goal for Claudio Ranieri led team this season, Rohr didn’t dim it right to invite him into the national team.

However, with the new fresh of air in the Eagles dugout Dennis fortune could turn from a player who couldn’t get invite to the one that get invited by Eguavoen, and should the coach opt for such decision the Watford forward is a versatile player who can play across the attack.
