A history-maker Xavi Hernandez is set to hang up his boot

Breaking: Xavi Hernández has officially announced that he will retire from football after 21 years.

He confirmed in an open letter on Thursday that this will be his last season and that he will continue his career as a coach.

Born 25 January 1980) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Qatari club Al Sadd SC. He is known for his long spells playing for Barcelona (14 years) and internationally for Spain (133 caps).
