All Chelsea Head Coaches In The Past Decade [2010 – 2020].

Chelsea football club is one of the most successful and wealthiest club in the world. The club have hired ten different coaches in the past decade, one of the highest in the world. All this coaches hired by the owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich coached the club for at least two years. Some of Chelsea former Coaches now have managerial roles in other clubs throughout the world.
The below listed coaches have managed Chelsea football club in the past decade, I bet you can’t guess all the managers who made the list.

1. Carlos Ancelotti (07/2009 – 06/2011) –

Carlos Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers currently in football, he is one of the managers who have won three UEFA Champions League. He is currently the head coach of Premier League club Everton. While at Chelsea, he became the first Italian head coach to win the English Premier League Title. He won one English Premier League title, one Emirates FA Cup and one FA Community Shield during his tenure as the Blues boss.

2. Andre Villas-Boas (07/2011 – 03/2012) –

Andre Villas-Boas took over as Chelsea’s boss following the termination of Carlo Ancelotti’s contract. He is one of the football managers who was never a player. He is the current head coach of French Ligue 1 club Marseille. His tenure at Chelsea was not successful and he was sacked before the ending of the season which he started with them. He didn’t win any trophy during his managerial spell at Chelsea.

3. Roberto Di Matteo (05/2012 – 11/2012) –

Roberto Di Matteo’s tenure as Chelsea’s head coach was one of the shortest in the history of the club. He was the assistant to former Blues coach Andre Villas-Boas, he took over as caretaker coach before he was offered the role as head coach. He is one of the most successful coaches the Blues have hired in the past decade. He won the UEFA Champions League for the Blues before he was appointed as their manager and first team coach. After the appointment, he lasted only eight months as their head coach, one of the shortest in Chelsea’s history. After his UEFA Champions League triumph, he also won the Emirates FA Cup.

4. Rafael Benitez (11/2012 – 06/2013) –

Rafael Benitez is among the most accomplished managers currently in football. He is the present head coach of Chinese club Dalian professional. Immediately after the termination of Roberto Di Matteo’s contract as Chelsea’s boss, he was hired as interim manager until the end of the season of which he won their first UEFA Europa League title.

5. Jose Mourinho (07/2013 – 12/2015) –

This was the Portuguese coach second spell as Chelsea’s boss. He was very successful in his first spell at the club which was the reason behind the club appointing him for the second time. Jose Mourinho is among the most successful and greatest managers of all time. After the departure of Rafael Benitez to Napoli, Mourinho was named his successor in a press conference at Stamford Bridge. His second spell was partially successful untill his three year where poor run made the both parties to part ways on mutual consent. Mourinho won the English Premier League title and the league cup in his second tenure as Blues boss.

6. Steve Holland (12/2015) –

Steve Holland was the assistant manager to Jose Mourinho in his second spell at Chelsea. After Chelsea part ways with the Portuguese coach, Steve Holland took charge of only one game for the Blues which was against Southampton. He later became assistant manager to Guus Hiddink for the remainder of the 2015/16 season.

7. Guus Hiddink (12/2015 – 06/2016) –

Guus Hiddink was appointed as a Chelsea’s interim boss few days after the Blues parted ways with Jose Mourinho. He helped them climb six spot higher than when he arrived which made them finish tenth in the league that year. His spell was not as successful as when he came in 2009 and won the Emirates FA Cup.

8. Antonio Conte (07/2016 – 07/2018) –

Antonio Conte had a successful spell with Chelsea at the early stage of his contract. He is the first manager to win three consecutive Premier League Manager of the month award. During his tenure as Chelsea’s head coach he won the Premier League title once and one Emirates FA Cup. In his third season as the Blues coach, he finished fifth in the league and missed out on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. He was sacked after missing out on Champions League football.

9. Maurizio Sarri (07/2018 – 06/2019) –

In July 2018, Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri was appointed as new head coach for Chelsea subsequently the sacking of current Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte. He became the first manager to be unbeaten in twelve English Premier League fixture. He lead Chelsea to their second UEFA Europa League triumph and this time they were undefeated throughout the whole campaign. The UEFA Europa League win was Sarri’s first major trophy as a manager. After the ending of the 2018/19 campaign Chelsea announced that Maurizio Sarri is leaving to resume as Juventus head coach.

10. Frank Lampard (07/2019 – till date) –

Frank Lampard is the current head coach of Chelsea football club. He is the first English manager to coach the side in over past two decades. Despite playing more than one finals, the English boss is yet to win any silverware. He is among the managers to win the Premier League Player Of The Month and Premier League Manager Of The Month.
