Barcelona striker Luis Suarez ‘could return’ to former club -Sebastien Abreu

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has hinted on homecoming once the transfer window finally opens.

The 33-year-old has spent six years in Barcelona and stamped his reputation as one of the world’s most deadly marksmen in front of goal.

Suarez has scored an astonishing 191 goals and made 108 assists in 270 appearances for Barca since a mammoth £75million move from Liverpool after the 2014 World Cup.

The Uruguay international is out of contract with the Spanish giants in 2021 and, although he would love to remain with Barca beyond the expiration of that deal, a former teammate believes Suarez could come home.

Sebastien Abreu, who played up front alongside Suarez at Nacional during the 2004-05 season is trying to bring his former strike partner back.

He told Uruguayan radio station 890: “I spoke with Suarez and he said that if I am the coach of Nacional he could return.”

Abreu is now player-manager for Boston River, but watched the youngster turn from academy prospect to one of the world’s best.

However, Suarez’s focus remains on Barcelona for the time being. “There is the option that if I play 60 per cent of the games I’m available for next year, I [will] renew automatically,” he told Catalan radio station RAC1 in February
