Douglas Costa has overlooked Cristiano Ronaldo in naming Juventus’s best player, by insisting instead that Paulo Dybala is the key man at the club.
Ronaldo has been integral to Juve’s Serie A charge this term as they were standing top of the table one point ahead of Lazio before the coronavirus pandemic halted sport across the world.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is the club’s top scorer this season with 21 goals in Serie A, three times as many as Dybala.
When asked over the best player at the club in an Instagram Q&A, he said: ‘The strongest companion is Paulino, Dybala. Then of course also Ronaldo’.
Supporters reacted with surprise by the Brazilian’s claim, with one fan sarcastically saying: ‘Yes Douglas Costa, Dybala is better than Ronaldo’ before adding emojis to emphasize the point.
Another even refused to entertain the idea of Ronaldo being compared to either player, saying: Imagine comparing Ronaldo to Dybala and Douglas b***** Costa. Juve fans hands down worst fans in Italy.’
