In Football, Nigeria are one of the active counties and due to that they have so many players who have played for them, who are playing for them and who is yet to play for them.
So many Nigerian players play in the German Bundesliga and have scored goals there but the beneath list is limited to only five players who have the highest goals in the League. The subsequent Nigerian players have the highest goals in the German Bundesliga.
1. Jonathan Akpoborie – 61 goals
Jonathan Akpoborie is a retired Nigerian player and he is the highest goalscoring Nigerian in the German Bundesliga. Till date he is still honoured as the Nigerian player with the highest number of Bundesliga goals. He spent majority of his active career playing in Germany and he was capped only thirteen times for Nigeria. Akpoborie played for three different Bundesliga clubs which are Hansa Rostock, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, 1. FC Saarbrücken, Stuttgarter kickers and many more. The former Nigerian striker scored Sixty one goals and made nineteen assists.
2. Victor Agali – 32 goals.
Victor Agali is a former Super Eagles striker, he is the second most prolific goalscorer from Nigeria to have played in the German Bundesliga. The strikers was renowned for goals from headers and he featured for only two clubs in Germany which are Hansa Rostock and Schalke 04. During his spell at Germany, the striker scored thirty two goals and provided twenty four assists in 134 Bundesliga appearances. Agali won two trophy at Germany and they are German Cup popularly known as the DFB Pokal Cup now and the UEFA intertoto cup in 2003.
3. Anthony Ujah (active) – 30 goals
Anthony Ujah is the first active Nigerian forward to make the list, he plays for Union Berlin and he is one of Nigeria’s thriving goalscorers in the German Bundesliga. Ujah has also played for Werder Bremen, Mainz 05 and FC Koln during his years in Germany. The Nigerian attacker has scored a total of thirty goals and set up ten goals for his teammates. He has been capped only seven times for Nigeria but he is yet to score his first goal for his country. In the 2013/14 season in Germany, he won the second tier league title with FC Koln, since then he hasn’t won any other silverware. The 30 years old striker can still climb up to the second spot when he scores two or more goals before he decides to hang his boot.
4. Jay Jay Okocha – 18 goals.
Jay Jay Okocha is a retired Nigerian legend who played as an attacking midfielder for both club and country. He left unerasable mark in the German Bundesliga due to his amazIng dribbling skills. Okacha played for only two German club during his spell there which are Borussia Neunkirchen in the lower tier and Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga. He scored 18 goals and set up 13 goals for his teammates during his spell in the German Bundesliga. Jay Jay was a quick, skillful and talented playmaker.
5. Chinedu Obasi – 17 goals.
Chinedu Obasi is the second active player on the list, he currently doesn’t play in Germany but his goal record is what made him to make the list. He plies his trade for Allmänna Idrottsklubben in Sweden. Obasi featured for both TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Schalke 04 and he scored seventeen goals and nine assists in hundred Bundesliga appearances.
