Football Clubs With The Highest Number Of Serie A Titles.

The Italian Serie A was founded 122 years ago and till now it’s still the top tier league of Italy. Among the top five European leagues, Serie A is ranked fourth ahead of French Ligue 1. Asides Spanish La Liga, this football league has the most players who have won the Ballon d’or award.


Since it’s inception, thirteen different Italian football clubs have won the title. The following clubs have won the Serie A title at least once.

1. Juventus – 36 titles.

Juventus are the most successful Italian football club in history and are the highest holders of the Serie A title. Currently, they have won the Serie A title nine times consecutively from 2011 to 2020. Juventus has housed so many legends and stars like Zinedine Zidane, Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero, and Cristiano Ronaldo who currently still plays for the Old lady. The Killer lady won the titles in the following years; 1905, 1925–26, 1930–31, 1931–32, 1932–33, 1933–34, 1934–35, 1949–50, 1951–52, 1957–58, 1959–60, 1960–61, 1966–67, 1971–72, 1972–73, 1974–75, 1976–77, 1977–78, 1980–81, 1981–82, 1983–84, 1985–86, 1994–95, 1996–97, 1997–98, 2001–02, 2002–03, 2011–12, 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20.

2. Inter Milan – 18 titles.

Inter Milan are one of the strongest Italian teams in the world. Since it’s inception, it’s the only Italian club that has not been relegated from the Serie A. The club won five consecutive titles from 2006 – 2010 making their total titles ranked up to Eighteen. The Nerazzurri won their titles in the following years; 1909–10, 1919–20, 1929–30, 1937–38, 1939–40, 1952–53, 1953–54, 1962–63, 1964–65, 1965–66, 1970–71, 1979–80, 1988–89, 2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2009–10.

3. AC Milan – 18 titles.

AC Milan are the most celebrated Italian club in history. They have won 18 FIFA and UEFA trophies. The Red and Blacks are the second most successful Italian club with the highest number of Serie A titles jointly with Inter Milan. AC Milan are one of the wealthiest football club in Italy and the world. They won the title in the following years; 1901, 1906, 1907, 1950–51, 1954–55, 1956–57, 1958–59, 1961–62, 1967–68, 1978–79, 1987–88, 1991–92, 1992–93, 1993–94, 1995–96, 1998–99, 2003–04, 2010–11.

4. Genoa – 9 titles.

Genoa are the fourth oldest Serie A club, it has over 125 years of existence. They were the team that won the inaugural Serie A title in 1898. The Old Fool are the fourth most successful football club in history. The Red and Blues won their Serie A titles in the subsequent years; 1898, 1899, 1900, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1914–15, 1922–23, 1923–24.

5. Bologna – 7 titles.

Bologna were part of the founding members of the Italian Serie A and they won most of their titles during that time. Their home ground is the tenth largest stadium in the Serie A. The Greyhounds won their titles in the following years; 1924–25, 1928–29, 1935–36, 1936–37, 1938–39, 1940–41, 1963–64.

6. Torino – 7 titles.

Torino are one of the most successful Italian clubs, five of their seven Serie A trophies they won it consecutively and that was in the 1940s, they were widely known as one of the strongest football clubs at that time. The Maroons are yet to set up their game which earned them the seven titles in the past. The Bull won their titles in the following years; 1927–28, 1942–43, 1945–46, 1946–47, 1947–48, 1948–49, 1975–76.

• Lazio – 2 titles.
• Fiorentina – 2 titles.
• Sampdoria – 1 title.
• Hellas Verona – 1 title.
• Cagliari – 1 title.
