The Football world has recorded expensive transfers in previous years. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro Expensive Transfer moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid, was for a whopping then world-record fee of £80 million (€94 million) in 2009.
However, since then the transfer fees in world football have taken different prices and the £80 Million Pound has been dwarfed multiple times.
As Manchester City recently made a bid of £100m for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, it will be Britain’s most expensive transfer and ninth most expensive transfer in the world, if completed.

If there was any man who was set a new transfer fee mark, it was none other than the man that was tipped to break the duopoly of Messi-Ronaldo.
When Ronaldo made the move, Neymar was busy at the FIFA u17 World Cup in Nigeria, 8 years later and after spending 4 seasons with Messi at Barcelona, Neymar was ripe for a record-breaking £200Million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
It was no surprise that after his transfer, transfer deals worth over £100m was done subsequently and 3 of the five biggest transfer in history involved either Barcelona or PSG.
Neymar’s fee broke Gareth Bale’s fee of 2013 and his transfer fee helped Barcelona into a spending spree that saw Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho.
Kylian Mbappe [Monaco – Paris St-Germain]
Kylian Mbappe broke into prominence as a youngster with Monaco in 2016 and has gone on break several records including being the second teenager to score in the FIFA World Cup as he went on to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France.
He moved to PSG first on loan before completing the deal which him the second move expensive player behind his teammate Neymar.
Philippe Coutinho [Liverpool – Barcelona]
Brazilian Coutinho starred at Premier League side Liverpool before he was approached by Barcelona as they continued to seek a proper replacement for departed Neymar.
Coutinho moved to Barcelona for £142M in 2018 but he has not replicated the same form he had at Liverpool and has since moved to Bayern Munich on loan and back to Camp Nou.
It is highly unlikely that he will ever command such a price in the transfer market again.

One of the players that Barcelona bought from Neymar’s proceeds was Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund and he has only shown glimpses and never recovered his Dortmund form no thanks to injuries.
