David Silva scored one and assisted another in his penultimate Premier League home game for Manchester City to leave Bournemouth in serious danger of relegation to the Championship.
Spanish man Silva, who will leave Manchester City after 10 years at the end of the season, curled a sublime sixth-minute free-kick into the top corner to put the hosts ahead at Etihad Stadium.
Bournemouth recovered well and had chances to level as Ederson produced a great save from Junior Stanislas’ free-kick. Silva then turned provider for Gabriel Jesus as the Brazil forward found the bottom corner to double City’s advantage before half-time.
David Brooks converted from Callum Wilson’s pass to hand the Cherries a late lifeline.
Already guaranteed to finish in second place, City move 18 points behind champions Liverpool, who face Arsenal later on Wednesday.
