Benzema made history for Real Madrid at the weekend, scoring his 300th and 301st goal for the club in the LaLiga Santander clash against Valencia at the magnificent Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Before the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, the Portuguese forward has always been the go-to man for the Spanish giant while Benzema plays the supporting cast in delivering all of the assists.

After the departure of Ronaldo, there was a serious debate on who is worthy enough to step into the shoes of the Portuguese, one of the (BBC) partners Gareth Bale was thought to be the player.

Bale, unfortunately, couldn’t step into Ronaldo’s shoes due to consistent injuries and loss of form, however, Benzema who has always been instrumental for the team in terms of his all-around performances steps into the Portuguese shoes and became foxes in front of goal.

His 19th and 20th goal in 26 appearances for Real Madrid against Los Che further cemented his name in the list of Los Blancos legends after 13 seasons with the club.

In those 13 seasons, the Frenchman had breached the 30 goal barrier twice and he is on track to do so for the third time this season for him to beat his best scoring form in 2011-12 when he scored 32 times.

With his 301 goals, Benzema is continuing to close the gap on those ahead of him in the club’s scoring charts like Raul Gonzalez and many great legends of the club.

Benzema is just seven goals shy of sharing a podium with Los Blancos great Alfredo Di Stefano who had 308 goals, with Raul Gonzalez also on 323.

At 34, the former Lyon forward may not be able to equal the records of his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, but he’s going to keep adding to his numbers as far as his legs could take him.

He already has 22 goals this season, a figure he didn’t reach until March 20 the last term, but with his mouthwatering form an intimidating partnership with Vinicius Junior, Benzema is destined to achieve more great things for Los Blancos.

With the Champions League set to resume soon, Real Madrid is to face Paris Saint Germain in what is the term the clash of the season between two of the best teams in Europe.

As such, Benzema baring injury and loss of form would be expected to help Real Madrid dump out the Parisians who lost the final to Bayern Munich in the 2019-2020 season.
