Ligue 1 Player Of The Year Award Winners From 2010.

The Ligue 1 player of the year award is usually given to the player with the best performance in the league at the end of a footballing year. It has been awarded on 26 different occasions since its inception. Only three players have won the award for more than one. The winner of the inaugural award was David Ginola who was playing for Paris Saint Germain at the time. The majority of the award in the past decade has gone to a player of Paris Saint Germain.
Due to the impact of Covid-19 on football and the incompletion of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign, the award was not given fur the first time since its inception. The winners of the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award in the past decade are listed below.

1. Lisandro Lopez (2009/10) –

Lisandro Lopez was formerly a player of Olympique Lyon in Ligue 1. He was a replacement for Karim Benzema who the French club sold to Real Madrid. Lopez won the Ligue 1 player of the year award in his debut season in the league. He currently plays for Racing Club in his native country Argentina.

2. Eden Hazard (2010/11, 2011/12) –

Eden Hazard is among the best players in the world. He is among the stars that the French Ligue 1 has had in their history. Hazard is the second player to win the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award more than once. The former Lille star was a promising prospect during his spell playing in the Ligue 1. The Belgian currently plays for Spanish giants Real Madrid after a successful stint in the English Premier League with Chelsea.

3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2012/13, 2013/14, 2015/16) –

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is among the best strikers of all time. He is the first player of the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award on three different occasions. He is a former player of Paris Saint Germain. The Swedish star currently plays for Italian club AC Milan after he had brief spells in England with Manchester United and the USA with LA Galaxy. He remains one of the most feared strikers in the world. In the four years he spent with PSG, he won the Player of the Year award thrice which is the best run ever.

4. Alexandre Lacazette (2014/15) –

Alexandre Lacazette had an outstanding spell with Olympique Lyon which allow him to win the Ligue 1 Player of the Year. The Lyon’s academy graduate is the French club’s fourth most prolific striker in its history. The Frenchman currently plays for Arsenal in the English Premier League.

5. Edinson Cavani (2016/17) –

Edinson Cavani is among the most feared strikers in the world. During his spell in Ligue 1, he was among the deadliest and most prolific strikers of the league. Cavani was the highest goalscorer in Ligue 1 for the 2016/17 campaign, it was part of the consideration that earned him the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award.

6. Neymar Jr (2017/18) –

Neymar Jr is among the best players in the world. The skillful forward is the most expensive player in football history. He won the UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year in his debut season with Paris Saint Germain. The Brazilian still plays for Paris Saint Germain.

7. Kylian Mbappe (2018/19) –

Kylian Mbappe is the latest winner of the annual award. The Frenchman has established himself as one of the best teenagers currently in football. Mbappe still plays for PSG despite interest from Real Madrid and other European powerhouses to sign him. He won the 2018/19 Ligue 1 Golden boot and the UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year.
