Manchester City is leading the pack to sign Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. The 22-year-old Argentine striker has a £97.5 million release clause, and Inter can’t persuade him to sign a new deal. Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are all interested but can’t afford to sign him at that price. Pep Guardiola sees him as Sergio Aguero’s replacement, the Sun claims.

Martinez, 22, joined Inter from Racing Club in Argentina in 2018.
The Argentine, who has hit 16 goals for Inter this term, has three years left on his contract.
City boss Pep Guardiola sees Martinez as the long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero.
Inter’s hopes of getting him to agree a new deal was hit by the pandemic.
Manchester City will have to explain how they can afford almost £100m in transfer fees and more in wages because they are on the cusp of a Champions League ban due to their failure to meet Financial Fair Play regulations. However, if they and their owners can somehow get the money to Inter Milan then he seems like an excellent long term option.
