Ever wondered who are Europe’s Most Assists provider in the just concluded 2020-21 campaign?

While goal-scorer are more revered in football and the assist providers don’t really get more accolades on the kind of hard work they put in place in making sure the forwards in their respective teams get all of the goals.

As much as assisting a goal is just as significant as putting the ball at the back of the net, so it is important to also praise those that has done impressively well to provide the assists for their colleagues on the pitch.

Thomas Muller – (Bayern Munich, 18)

Number on our list his Bayern Munich veteran cum versatile midfielder Muller, he has 18 assists after 34 match days in the just concluded Bundesliga 2020-21 campaign. The Die Mannschfte midfielder obviously had a brilliant campaign for Die Roten, and with this statistics he ranks as number one as the player with the most assists provided in the Bundesliga which cumulated into Bayern winning the league.

The Germany international isn’t the kind of player that would guarantee you 50 plus goal every season, but his an efficient and very versatile player that would contribute to the success of the team either with his goals or assists. All through his career he’s play as either a midfielder, striker, or winger and he’s never disappointed in delivering the goods when play in any of the positions mention.

Muller’s influence on Die Roten team was so good that all through the campaign he has a total of 47 chances created which ranks him number 8 among other players in the Bundesliga. That said, with Euro Championship set to commence in few days Muller would definitely want to take his club form to the German team for them to have a brilliant outing.

Harry Kane – (Tottenham Hotspur, 14)

With the 2020-21 Premier League campaign finally over with each team knowing where they belong in terms of Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League spot. While some team won’t have the opportunity to participate in all of the above competitions.

For the team and player that would take part in any of the above competitions is Tottenham’s Harry Kane, the forward did had a wonderful campaign with the North London side scoring 24 goals and providing 14 assists. With that achievement he underlined his status as one of the Premier League’s most complete forwards by winning both the Golden Boot and Player maker awards.

As far as the English Premier League is concern, Kane is the first player for 22 seasons and the third ever to finished top of both rankings in the league ahead of Manchester City’s man Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes of United. It would be interesting to see Kane with the same energy in which he ended the campaign for Tottenham at the European Championship.

Iago Aspas – (Celta Vigo, 13)

When you mention Celta Vigo, the name that comes to mind is no other than ‘El Turco’ Iago Aspas. In his six seasons since returning to La Liga, Aspas has scored more than 114 goals for Celta and as such no other player in Celta has ever scored more goals than him.

El Turco was so good that he played a pivotal role in helping Celta finished eight on the league standings in the just concluded LaLiga Santander campaign.

Aspas wasn’t just instrumental for Los Celestes in terms of his goals contributions, he also contributed immensely with 13 massive assists.

Aspas stint with Liverpool may not have ended well, but in the four walls of the Balaidos the Spaniard his nothing but a legend among the fans and a pure leader in the dressing room for his colleagues in terms of his consistent performances for Los Celeste especially this season.

Ruslan Malinovskyi – (Atalanta, 12)

When pointing at some of the key players in Gian Piero Gasperini’s team the Ukraine midfielder would obviously be listed in the top five best, based on his impressive performances this season for the Bergamo side in the Seria A.

When Malinovskyi arrived from Belgian club KRC Genk in July 2019 for €13.7m, he was only expected to provide additional depth to the Bergamo side with the likes of Papu Gomez and Josip llicic still dictating the pace in the squad. However following the exit of Gomez to Sevilla Gasparini needed someone to come into the team and fit in perfectly, as such Malinovskyi was called upon and he ended up paying the manager’s trust with impressive performances.

In the 2020-21 campaign the former Genk midfielder has 12 assists in total after 38 matches played for ‘La Dea’. According to statistics his all round performances for the Bergamo side ranks him number 5 in the Seria A, plus a total number of 37 chances created all through the campaign.

Without mincing word, the Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko would definitely be banking on his eyes for goal and assist just like he did for Atalanta when the Euro Championship commences proper.

Memphis Depay – (Lyon, 10)

Memphis Depay’s failed Manchester United stint would certainly be one of the darkest moment in his football career, despite joining the Red Devils with a lot of expectations from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2015 for £25m on a four year contract with the option to extend for a further year.

After failing to light up the Premier League when he joined, Depay moved elsewhere to the French Ligue 1 with Lyon one of the best side in the league in January 2017 and since then he’s been their best player every season having rediscover his form with the former Champions.

In the 2020-21 campaign despite Lyon narrowly missed out on the Champions League spot, but the Dutch international didn’t missed out on distinguishing himself as the best player of the team with the kind of impressive performances he shone out all through the season registering 10 assists and 20 goals in 37 Ligue 1 matches.

With the former Manchester United winger set to lead the Oranje national team at the Euro Championship, he would be expected to deliver top-notch performances that befit his name and calibre as one of their best player in the team.

All of the players who did not make the top 5 list, however would make the top 10.
