Nigeria beats Cameroon, South Africa stuns Egypt to reach AFCON quarter-finals

Super Eagles of Nigeria displayed a world class performance against the defending champion, the indomitable lions of Cameroon.

The Round of 16 games ,between the neighboring countries, started on  a very good note, with both teams showing their tactical abilities as they squared it out at the Alexandria stadium on Saturday.

The match ended 3-2 in favor of the three times Africa Champions Nigeria.

Nigeria recorded a goal first, with Odion Ighalo putting the super Eagles ahead of cameroon in the 19th minute, as Odion Ighalo finish off a deflection from a free kick awarded to Nigeria after Ahmed Musa was brought down.

Cameroon then scored twice in the late minutes of first half to put them ahead of Nigeria, before the break.

The game begin, with Nigeria making a tactical change with the introduction of Chukwueze.

Nigeria continue to take the major posses ion of the game, and it yielded a  brilliant result after Ahmed Musa set up  a chest header for Odion Ighalo, who put a goal past the Cameroonian goal keeper Onana, to record a brace in the match and as well put the Super Eagles ahead.

Odion Ighalo recorded an assist , after setting a wonderful pass for Alex Iwobi, who the finished the goal brilliantly to put the Nigeria ahead of Cameroon, a brace from Odion Ighalo and a goal from the Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi was enough to put Nigeria in the quarter final.

Nigeria to Play South Africa

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa stuns the Pharaohs of Egypt after a late goal sealed victory for them.

South Africa came in to the match as the under dogs, after performing woefully in the group stage, and qualify as the best looser to the round of 16.

The whole Africa were expecting the Pharaohs to beat the Bafana Bafana  mercilessly, but it was the other way round, as the South Africans team, shows their Brilliant tactics, and also caged the Liverpool star Mo Salah to knock out the host Nations from AFCON2019.

Stuart Baxter men will now face their greatest rival Nigeria in the quarter-final by july 10 at 21:00 SA time.
