Dakkada vs Wikki Tourist

When Umar Danlami and his Dakkada players file out to face Wikki Tourist on Saturday, it’ll be the second time, having played only once prior to this time.

Dakkada were decimated by the Afonja warriors (Kwara United) last time out in Ilorin while Usman Abdallah’s Wikki Tourist are coming from the back of two barren draws against Sunshine and Lobi Stars.

Uyo based Dakkada have managed to score five goals in their last five matches, and given that Giant Elephants (Wikki Tourist) looks very solid at the back, goals will not be scored aplenty but a win for Dakkada is feasible.

Akwa United vs Plateau United

Visitors, Plateau United didn’t play in the last matchday due to the postponement of their match against Rivers United. However, they travel to face the wounded lions in Uyo this weekend in a crunchy tie.

Boboye tutored Akwa United side crumbled in Nasarawa last weekend, seeing their three games unbeaten run brought to an end in a painful manner – Ebuka Anakwe’s added time goal at the 93rd minute gave Nasarawa United the edge over Akwa United.

Fifteen placed Plateau United have failed to win in their last two matches played (the first time since june 2018). A win isn’t sure for them in this encounter as well – a bad time for the Peace Boys to square up with the Promise Keepers.

Jigawa Golden Stars vs Nasarawa United

NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs

Nasarawa United have clearly suffered setbacks following their three straight losses to Rivers United, Enyimba and Plateau United respectively.

But the fighting spirit exhibited by the Solid Miners against Akwa United might just have given Coach Bala Nkiyu the much needed dynamism to get his side’s morale boosted for this fixture.

Also, Jigawa Golden Stars doesn’t seem to be much of a threat to Nasarawa United this season in every aspect. Unless football happens, Nasarawa United is expected to snatch the victory with ease.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah vs Katsina United
NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs
Records have shown that in the last NPFL four meetings between these two clubs, the home side have always emerged victorious after ninety minutes of play.

Form or position on the log has never been a decider in this encounter, will things change this time out? Only time will tell.

MFM vs Adamawa United
NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs
It’s the most troubled side (MFM) against the winless side (Adamawa United) in the league this term. Olukoya boys are without a win in seven consecutive NPFL matches; they’ve never gone that much without a win since they gained promotion into the NPFL in 2015.

This embarrassing stat shows how disorganized and muddled they’ve been. Adamawa United haven’t fared any better either; they’ve neither recorded a win nor scored up to five goals this season.

The responsible thing for MFM should be to see this match as a turning point away from the unfortunate season they’ve had but it’s left to be seen. It’s a win or draw for MFM regardless!

Lobi Stars vs Kano Pillars
NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs
These two sides have been around for a while, hence the familiarity between them. However, Pillars have been the better side this season having won six, lost two and drew two in their ten games so far.

Also, they trail Kwara United and Enyimba who sit first and second on the log by a point.

Kabiru Dogo’s side haven’t recorded a win in their last five games; drawing three and losing the other two.

With the form of Lobis especially against Heartland on Monday, it will take some extraordinary and resilient performance from the Benue based side to break the Sai Masu Gida.

Sunshine Stars vs Heartland
NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs
Ever since Abia Warriors got their first win against Sunshine Stars, the Oracle (Gbenga Ogunbote) and his lads has been on the lookout for another victory despite having the league’s top scorer (Sadeeq Yusuf) in their ranks.

Heartland on the other hand have put the dramas ruining their season hitherto behind them; three wins, a draw and a loss in their last five is more than enough motivation for the Naze Millionaires.

In addition, despite scoring the highest number of goals (14) this season, the disorganization in the defence has been the bane of Heartland – No thanks to Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s amateurish performances.
NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs
But the defensive and goalkeeping headache looks to have been put to bed by Coach Fidelis Ikechukwu who has made use of Chijioke Ejiogu in Heartland’s last two fixtures, one of which they got their first clean sheet of the season (against Lobi Stars).

Therefore, if there’s a team going to this fixture in the right frame of mind, it’s surely Ikechukwu’s Heartland. A win for the Owerri side is possible but they should be wary of surprises from the Akure Gunners.

Enugu Rangers vs Kwara United
NPFL Matchday 11: Kwara United, Pillars Seeks Extended Unbeaten Runs
In the absence of the biggest match of this weekend (Rivers United vs Enyimba), Rangers taking on Kwara United has come in handy for individuals that will be at the Cathedral to watch because it will not be beamed on TV.

It’s the battle between the table toppers against the fifth placed Enugu Rangers in a match that has so much at stake.

For the records, the Afonja Warriors have faced Rangers sixteen times with Salisu Yusuf’s Rangers winning eight of them while the Ilorin based club have recorded five victories and the remaining three encounters resulting in stalemates.

It must also be noted that Kwara United have never won at The Cathedral. It was Felix Ogbuke’s 79th minute goal that proved the difference when the Harmony Boys last travelled to Enugu.

However, Coach Abdullahi Biffo has kept faith in his side, hoping for a successful outing against Rangers on Sunday.

How the Warriors from Ilorin will hunt and kill the Flying Antelopes for lunch in their search for an extended unbeaten run at the top of the league will be known when they meet at the Cathedral.

Warri Wolves vs Abia Warriors

It was Paul Samson ‘s 23rd minute screamer that condemned Enugu Rangers to a 1-nil defeat in the hands of Abia Warriors on Monday.

Which means that in Warriors’ three wins this season, two of them had Abia Warriors drawing first blood against their opponents (as witnessed against Sunshine Stars and Enugu Rangers).

For the Wolves, it’s a battle for survival from the relegation waters. With the two teams having an identical trajectory this season, it’s quite difficult to pinpoint the side that’d emerge victorious. However, a win for Imama Amapakabor and his boys cannot be ruled out.
