The Pharaohs of Egypt faced Dr Congo in the second match of group A in Cairo.
The hosts who were looking to join the super eagles of Nigeria in the knock – out stage, started on a very good note.
Dr Congo also proved to be a tough test for the Egyptians, as they were looking forward to secure their crucial three points to give them a boost for the knock-out stage.

After playing averagely against Zimbabwe, that led to an accusation that he was feeling the effects of an extremely tiring season at Liverpool.
Zimbabwe left-back was happy to hold Salah down, that after the game he told the world how he singlehandedly contained Mo Salah.
“I feel great, because the coach gave me a task today to mark Salah,” he told reporters
“He’s a terrific guy and I was instructed to go with him if he cut inside [on his stronger left foot] or show him outside [to his weaker right foot]. That was the task for today.”
“I wasn’t nervous.”
As Lunga of Zimbabwe was able to subdue Salah, the Dr Congo defenders failed dutifully as Salah converted a brilliant pass from Trezeguet, only to beat three defenders and put a brilliant strike to see the back of the net.
His goal confirms a round-off 16 place for the Pharaohs of Egypt, after Aston Villa’s Ahmed Elmohamady having opened the scoring in the 25th minute from an Uncleared Salahs corner.
Dr Congo had a lot of chances, but they were just unlucky, as most of their strikes was just hitting the wood work , and denying them of goals.
Egypt are now through to the next round, with six points putting them at the top of group A, and they will face Uganda in their last match on Sunday.
