The Argentine forward signed for United for a then record premier league fee of £59.7m after a successful spell with Real Madrid. 4. Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao is a Colombian footballer who currently plays in the Turkish Super Lig for Galatasary as a forward. Nicknamed as “The Tiger” or “King Of The Europa League”, when he joined Manchester United he was a shadow of the player we had seen at Monaco as well as Atletico Madrid. He scored only four times during his spell at Manchester United and was tagged a transfer flop for the Red Devils.

5. Shinji Kagawa

Shinji Kagawa is a Japanese professional midfielder who currently plays as an attacker for Spanish club Real Zaragoza and the Japan national team. The Japanese playmaker struggled to influence games the way he did during his stay at Borussia Dortmund but he lost his way at United.

6. Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is an Armenian professional footballer who plays an attacking role for Italian club AS Roma, on loan from Arsenal. The Armenian captain failed to live up to expectations, his case is similar to that of Shinji Kagawa. The 2015/16 season which he spent at Borussia Dortmund saw him score 11 goals and make 15 assists in 31 appearances but under Mourinho his confidence was knocked and he never truly recovered.

7. Marcos Rojo

Marcos Rojo is an Argentine professional defender who plays for premier league side Manchester United and the Argentina national team. In the summer of 2014 when Man Utd was in search of a defender, they opted out for Rojo who just had a successful world cup performance but he lacked the necessary qualities to upgrade United’s backline and he was tagged as a transfer flop for the Red Devils.

8. Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez is a Chilean professional forward who currently plays for Serie A club Inter Milan, on loan from Manchester United. The Chilean attacker is being paid by Man Utd to play elsewhere. For many, this will go down as the worst signing in premier league history and one of the worst flop transfer of United. Manchester United lured the Chilean from Arsenal where he was on top form and also the Gunners best player with a massive wage but he was never able to recapture his Arsenal form for the Red Devils and was loaned to Inter Milan.

9. Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin is a French defensive midfielder who plays for Nice and the French national team. Schneiderlin proved to be an expensive mistake for the Red Devils after falling out of favour due to inconsistency and playing below expectations. He made only three appearances for United and was never able to impose himself at Old Trafford. The United transfer flop left for Everton in January 2017, 2 years after making his £27m move to Old Trafford.

10. Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bastain Schweinsteiger is a German retired professional midfielder who was earlier in his career a wide midfielder. Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United in 2015 after a successful spell with Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich but couldn’t reproduce the form he had shown during his stay at Germany. He featured for the Red Devils only 18 times due to injuries and lack of fitness, he later left Old Trafford for Chicago Fire sparingly playing for 18 months.
