The Youngest debutants in the UEFA Champions League are just five in number as it was revealed yesterday. 1. Youssoufa Moukoko (16 years 18 days) –
Youssoufa Moukoko is a German professional footballer known for his scoring ability at a very young age. He plays for German club Borussia Dortmund and Germany U20 national team. However, he is the youngest debutant in the UEFA Champions League. Yesterday 8th of December 2020, Moukoko made his debut for Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League at the age of 16 years and 18 days. Further, he broke the record which was previously held by Celestine Babayaro (16 years 87 days).
2. Celestine Babayaro (16 years 85 days) –
Celestine Babayaro is a Nigerian retired footballer who has held the record of the youngest debutant in the UEFA Champions League for over two decades. He played as a defender and sometimes as a midfielder. In addition, the Nigerian spent the majority of his career at Premier League club, Chelsea. Furthermore, while he was at Anderlecht in 1994, he not only set the record for being the youngest debutant in the UEFA Champions League but also the youngest player to be sent off in the competition.
3. Rayan Cherki (16 years 100 days) –
Rayan Cherki is a French professional footballer who plays for French club Olympique Lyon. He plays as an attacking midfielder for the French club and he is among the youngest players in the league. However, he is the third-youngest debutant in the UEFA Champions League. Furthermore, last season, on the 27th of November 2019, he made his Champions League debut as a substitute for Maxwell Cornet in their loss to Zenit St Petersburg.
4. Alen Halilovic (16 years 126 days) –
Alen Halilovic is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for English club Birmingham City. At the time of his UEFA Champions League debut, he was the second youngest debutant in the competition but currently, he is the fourth-youngest debutant in the UEFA Topflight competition. In addition, he is the youngest player to feature for Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League aged 16 years 126 days.
5. Youri Tielemans (16 years 145 days) –
Youri Tielemans is a Belgian professional midfielder known for his goal scoring abilities. He plays for Premier League club Leicester City and Belgium national team. However, he is the youngest Belgian to debut in the UEFA Champions League and also the fifth-youngest player to play a UEFA Champions League match.
