10. Mateo Kovacic (2019, From Real Madrid) – 40 million.

Mateo Kovacic initially signed for Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid in 2018 before the move was made permanent in the summer of 2019. He was the only player Chelsea signed in the summer of 2019 due to the transfer ban placed on them which started from that transfer window. The Croatian is the tenth most expensive signing of the Chelsea football club. He helped Chelsea with the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League and was named Chelsea Player of the Year after the end of last season.

9. Tiemoue Bakayoko (2017, From Monaco) – 40 million.

Tiemoue Bakayoko joined Chelsea from Monaco in 2017 after displaying a great performance at Monaco which earned him a spot in the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League squad of the season. His stay at the English club has earned him so many condemnations and has been classified as a transfer flop. The Frenchman is currently on loan at Italian club Napoli till the end of the 2020/21 campaign. At the time of his arrival, he was Chelsea’s second most expensive signing after Fernando Torres but currently he is the ninth most expensive signing of the English club.

8. Timo Werner (2020, From RB Leipzig) – 47.5 million.

Timo Werner joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig this summer as they looked to solve their goalscoring issues. He became RB Leipzig’s all-time highest goal scorer before he joined Chelsea. He is the eighth-most expensive signing of Chelsea football club. The German striker is among the best strikers in the world. 7. Fernando Torres (2011, From Liverpool) – 50 million.

Fernando Torres joined Chelsea from fellow English club Liverpool for a then club-record transfer fee and British record transfer fee. The move made him the most expensive Spanish player in history. He helped Chelsea to win the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League in his first full season. Torres later scored in the final of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League for Chelsea to claim the title for the first time in their history. He is among the players in the Blues will never forget.

6. Ben Chilwell (2020, From Leicester City) – 50 million.

Chelsea signed Ben Chilwell from their fellow English club Leicester City this summer after conceding the highest number of goals among the top four Premier League teams. 4. Christian Pulisic (2019, From Borussia Dortmund) – 58 million.

Christian Pulisic signed for Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window of 2019 but went back on loan till the end of the 2018/19 campaign. He scored his first career hat trick alongside his first Chelsea goal in a 6-0 win over Barnsley in the EFL Cup. Kepa Arrizabalaga arrived at Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for a club-record fee. He was signed to replace Thibaut Courtois who left for Real Madrid. Chelsea activated the release clause in his Athletic Bilbao contract to make him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. The Spanish goalkeeper has lost his place to Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after a poor form and unnecessary blunders.
