The latest breaking transfer news and all the best rumours as Bayern Munich are listening to offers for Thiago Alcantara.
Roma want to sign free agent Jan Vertonghen, but talks have stalled over securing Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on a permanent deal, according to reports.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma want Vertonghen as he is a friend of the Serie A club’s sporting director Franco Baldini, formerly of Tottenham, who is responsible for their transfer strategy.
More from a source, who say Bayern Munich have set the price tag for Thiago Alcantara to expedite his sale.
“In Germany there are only rumours about Liverpool [signing Thiago].
“Bayern isn’t happy to let him leave. But Thiago didn’t come to an appointment to sign an agreed new contract some weeks ago, as Bayern anticipated. He got a new opportunity and wants to leave.
“Now they are setting the pace by assigning a price tag.”
It would appear Bayern have done this to speed up their own transfer plans this summer, with Corentin Tolisso reportedly another player who could be moved on.
