The preparations for TotalAfcon2019 has
moved next gear. Over 50 Referees and
Assistant Referees are undergoing (28 April
to 5 May) an intensive training camp in Rabat,
Morocco. They will go through medical,
theoretical and practical test including VAR .
The 32nd edition which is schedule to kick
start in Egypt 21st of June and ends 19th of
July 2019 will see 24 countries compete for
VAR (video Assistant Referee) will be used
from the quarter final of the game after
consulting FIFA and UEFA.
VAR was first used in a CAF competition
during the 2018 Total African Nations
Championship (CHAN), which took place in
Morocco from January 13 to February 4.
The VAR system is intended to eliminate
controversy over referee decisions,but there
has been a lot of controversies over its used.
When the teams was expanded from 16 to 24 teams, six venues were expected to be used.
The venues are:
1. Cairo International Stadium
2. 30 June Stadium in Cairo
3. Alexandria Stadium in Alexandria
4. Suez Stadium in Suez
5. Ismailia Stadium in Ismailia
6. Al Masry club Stadium in Port Said
